Ahurei Gifts is proud to announce that we recently partnered with Tree-Nation with a commitment to plant a tree for every predominantly wood product we sell on our website including wood chopping boards, pizza boards, cheese boards, beer caddies, keepsake boxes, all wood gift boxes and all gift sets that come in wood boxes.
This means if you purchase any of the qualifying products on our website we'll plant a tree on your behalf.
Tree-Nations Mission
Tree-Nation has a mission to plant 1 trillion trees by the year 2050 via reforestation and conservation projects which help to restore forests, create jobs, support local communities and protect biodiversity.
Recognized internationally and becoming an official partner of the UNEP in 2007, Tree-Nation has evolved to help +15,000 companies and more than half a million users to plant more than 20 million trees in +60 reforestation projects in 6 continents.
Ahurei Gifts Commitment
We have made the commitment to plant at least one tree for every predominantly wood product we sell on our website. For example, if you purchase a single wood chopping board, we'll plant a tree in one of the Tree-Nations plantations around the world! If you purchase two chopping boards and one cheese board, we'll plant three trees on your behalf.
In Addition to planting a tree for every wood product we sell, we also run promotions for trees including planting a tree for every visitor to our Warkworth Showroom, offering bulk tree donations from our corporate clients, plant trees for every employee and more.
Net Zero Business & Website
Our goal is to become a Net Zero business and website by off-settings our Carbon footprint and planting as many trees as possible over the coming years and into the future.
In addition to planting trees we also minimise our impact on the environment in lots of other ways including:
• We have eliminated a large amount of packaging from the manufacturing and product packing process. This means your package will not arrive with any polystyrene unless we are recycling and re-using polystyrene that has already come in to our business via 3rd party businesses.
• Any bubble wrapping used to protect your items whilst being shipped are also made from 30% recyclable materials and are 100% recyclable or is bubble wrapping we are reusing from shipments that have come in to our business from 3rd parties. Any recyclable bubble wrapping will be green in colour and we encourage you to either reuse where possible or place in a soft plastic recycling bin once finished with, these are located at most supermarkets.
• We use NZ Post Courier Post service for all our deliveries and they also have a sustainability policy in place and take steps to minimise their impact on the environment. They are also transitioning from Diesel delivery vehicles to electric.
• We actively source products from companies with sustainability as a focus i.e. all wood products are sources from manufacturers that only use sustainable forests.
• Our laser engraving machines do not use any chemicals unlike older or cheaper models available on the market.
• Any recyclable materials that come in to our business are either re-used or disposed of at recycling centers and not thrown in to a commercial general waste bin.
• When packaging your gifts for shipment we use custom sized boxes where possible to reduce the volume of the package which in tern maximises the volume each courier vehicle can carry on a single trip.
